About

Hi, I’m saurabh. (contact me)

About me (kind of boring)

I was born on a late summer night, back in 1988.

As a kid (age<5), I wanted to be a mahout (one who rides and keeps an elephant). Luckily, when I grew up (5 < age <= 16), my ambition was to become a scientist. While in lower primary classes, I used to mix up plant juices, chilly powder and expired medicines and tested them on small insects I could get my hands onto. It was not uncommon for these mixtures to stink like hell from where I kept them, my lab – a hidden corner in our terrace, beside the water tank. As I got into upper primary classes, my interests shifted from rotten plant juices to wires, batteries, LEDs and stuff. By the end of high school and through higher secondary classes (age<18), my interests were mostly in biology, bio-tech, genetics, evolution etc.

… All these time, I never owned or operated a computer other than for a limited few months when I used to play Prince (the DOS game), in my school’s computer lab in 7th grade, which as I remember had only 1 PC. Still I didn’t understand or like computers much. I even loathed computers (my bad. I dislike everything I do not understand).

.. Days passed and I got decent marks in engineering entrance exam and I had to choose a branch of study. My first preference was bio-technology. But everyone advised me not to go for it – less job scope. So I opted for Mechanical Engineering, coz someone told me you don’t have maths in mech. The seat allotment process continued for about 2 long months. At this time, we bought a PC at home, coz we had to submit our engineering seat preferences through internet…

… I began to play with the most amazing toy I ever got – my first computer. Everything I found in there was new and unbelievable. I danced with joy when I created my first folder (well, not myself. Someone gave me step by step instructions,.. right click in desktop, left click on new, left click on folder).

Then over the two months I got a lot of time alone with the computer and I fell in love with it.

… the rest of the story is still on the make…
